[edit] Station name
Is there some explanation for the unusual form of the station name, as Wellington (Shropshire) [or Wellington (Salop) as I've seen printed on some tickets], when as far as I know there is no other station in the UK also called Wellington? Perhaps historical? DWaterson 00:14, 5 October 2007 (UTC)
- There are other stations in the world called Wellington railway station. See the disambig link provided. This is also a standard way to distinguish stations and i am unsure about Salop. Simply south 11:36, 5 October 2007 (UTC)

- Ah no, that's not quite what I mean. "Wellington (Shropshire)" is the official name of the railway station, rather than just a Wikipedia disambiguator (otherwise the page would be at Wellington railway station, United Kingdom). I was more curious about the unusual form of the official name of the station rather than its application on Wikipedia. Cheers, DWaterson 11:52, 5 October 2007 (UTC)

- This station is officially named Wellington (Shropshire) as there is another town of the same name in Somerset I am not sure if there is a station in that one, it is possible that they simply added the extra bit to the name to prevent confusion with the other town resulting in the unwary getting travel information to completely the wrong place not realizing there is another place of the same name MttJocy (talk) 13:05, 27 January 2008 (UTC)
