Weidevenne
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Weidevenne (pronunciation ) is a housing estate of the city of Purmerend in the Netherlands, west of the Noordhollandsch Kanaal (North Holland Canal) across from the De Gors estate. Its 14,451 inhabitants (as of 1-1-2007)[1] mainly live in terraced houses. The populace of Purmerend is expected to grow to 90,000, mainly due to the continuing expansion of Weidevenne. In November of 2007, the estate witnesses its ten-year anniversary[2].
[edit] Amenities
At the centre of the estate a shopping centre is located housing supermarkets and various specialty shops selling e.g. household articles and toys and equipped with cash dispensers[3], an outpatient clinic providing medical and dental care as well as speech therapy and physical therapy[4], and Weidekerkhuis, an ecumenical meetinghouse. [5]. As of 10 December 2007 Weidevenne will have a separate railway station where local trains from Hoorn will call a halt en route to Zaandam and Amsterdam[6].
