[edit] Introduction
The websearch template can be used to link generically to a World Wide Web search engine query. It's more convenient than typing out or pasting encoded URLs, and gives some amount of future-proofing for the day when Google goes the way of Alta Vista.
[edit] Usage
[edit] Basic
For simple usage, type:
{{websearch|blonde redhead}}
instead of:
[http://www.google.com/search?q=blonde+redhead blonde redhead]
Both will be rendered as in:
- My favorite band is blonde redhead.
[edit] Specifying display text
To override the display text, type:
{{websearch|blonde redhead|a three-piece}}
instead of:
[http://www.google.com/search?q=blonde+redhead a three-piece]
Both will be rendered as in:
- My favorite band is a three-piece.
