This page could use a list (or a link to a list) of web site monitoring software, such as Big Brother and Big Sister and sanjay kumar

That's a good idea - it took us a while to find the right solution. We use IPCheckpoint [1] for website monitoring, we chose them because they have a very simple to use and intuitive interface and deliver the whole package (full page analysis, alerts, synthetic transactions) for such a low price it was a no-brainer for us. I think synthetic transactions are important because you can emulate actual user transactions from various locations around the net and report on how you are performing - and of course alert if you are not. We used to use Red Alert but found the interface more complex and reporting not as good - they were also almost 10x the price.
