[edit] Name

William Webb Ellis Trophy or William Webb Ellis trophy or William Webb Ellis Cup or William Webb Ellis cup? I have personally seen the name William Webb Ellis Cup used the most. What does everyone else think? Cvene64 09:28, 15 June 2006 (UTC)

Somewhere on the net, there is a googlefight game which might determine for us which name is the most common (on the net at least).GordyB 14:35, 4 July 2006 (UTC)

Link [1] Cup beats trophy. THe capitalisation is a grammatical issue and I would go with a caps letter myself as it is part of the title and to be consistant with 'World Cup'.GordyB 14:38, 4 July 2006 (UTC)
I saw a high resolution image of the cup the other day, and it actually says The Webb Ellis Cup on the face of it, so maybe that is THE official title...? Cvene64 06:40, 29 August 2006 (UTC)
I'am going to be bold and move the page to Webb Ellis Cup. Even though it has numerous variations in the media, that is what it actually says on the face of the cup. Cvene64 04:44, 2 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] The engraving

The article says "the words International Rugby Board"...wait on...how can it say that, if the trophy was created in the 80s, yet the IRB was called the "International Rugby Football Board" back then??

Perhaps that part of the engraving was added after 1998 when the IRB dropped the 'F'.GordyB 11:25, 31 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Permanent Ownership

"The first team to win the world cup 3 times will keep the Webb Ellis Cup permanently." - Can someone please verify this issue of permanent ownership after 3 World Cup wins with a reliable source? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 58.107.97.123 (talk) 12:12, 23 October 2007 (UTC)
