From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

WEA Manufacturing was a Compact Disc manufacturing plant in Olyphant, Pennsylvania that began to manufacture compacts disc in the United States in 1987. Along with Sony's plant, Digital Audio Disc Corporation (DADC) based in Terre Haute, Indiana both plants were the first United States based manufacturers to manufacture compact discs in the United States.

WEA Manufacturing grew to become the largest manufacturer of recorded media in the world, and the first to manufacture DVDs in the late 90s. When Time Warner was sold to private group of investors in 2004, WEA Manufacturing was purchased by Cinram, another large manufacturer of recorded media.
