The statement that this area has a highly unusual concentration of country music stations outside of Texas or Nashville is parochial and cites no facts beyond a list of stations. According to the count in my database, there are 1,574 stations in the US playing Country Music format, which is more than 10% of all licensed radio stations - and that doesn't include "full service" AM stations that happen to play country music in between their other activities. A quick count ahows the following DMAs have more country stations: Saint Louis (7), Cincinatti (7), Salt Lake City, Utah (7), Madison, Wisconsin (7), Flagstaff AZ (7), Evansville Indiana (9), Fargo, ND (8), LaCrosse, WI (7). source: List of 1574 country stations as of 7/1/2007StreamingRadioGuide 23:22, 1 July 2007 (UTC)
