[edit] Station History

Before signing on 107.5 MHz in 1997, the WCKX call letters were assigned to 106.3 MHz ("Power 106") in London, Ohio, but serving the Columbus metro area. The 106.3 frequency is now the current home of WJYD.

As of December 2007, WCKX has begun to tilt its urban format direction towards Rhythmic contemporary, as evidenced by this playlist from Mediabase[1]. Despite being an Urban, WCKX had always leaned towards a Rhythmic direction. Officially, it is the first Radio One-owned station to be a rhythmic since the sale of former sister station KTTB in Minneapolis.
