The following text was on the article:
- Faw thought about an appeal, but was advised to sell the station rather than risk having his license stripped. He finally sold channel 64 to a Kannapolis businessman in 1996. The new owner changed the calls to WAXN-TV and secured a local marketing agreement with WSOC-TV. Cox bought the station outright in 2000.
I don't know anything about troubles Faw may have had with the FCC but many other details just don't mesh. When Cox bought WAXN in 2000 it was still owned by Reverend Faw (technically known as "Kannapolis Televison") so who is the unidentified businessman who was mentioned as a middle owner? Also, it was definitely Cox Enterprises who changed the call letters under the terms of the LMA agreement.
