[edit] Kyle Barman
I do not believe that being an Eagle Scout confers sufficient notability for inclusion (or and article) on Wikipedia. I've removed the entry once already, but do not wish to get into an edit war. I will post a request on WP:BLP for comment about whether this entry should stay or not. Mjroots (talk) 19:51, 15 May 2008 (UTC)
- I agree with you, and I reverted the re-addition of this name. The focus of a list of local notables should be on people who have made a splash in the world beyond Waunakee, consistent with the principles underlying WP:BIO. Local celebrities are generally not notable in the context of an encyclopedia. Becoming an Eagle Scout may make a person a local celebrity, but the world at large does not benefit from being told that someone in this town is an Eagle Scout. People who have done significant things within the community (such as founding the town's major business or donating a large sum of money to build a school) might, of course, deserve to be mentioned in the article text that discusses their contributions. --Orlady (talk) 20:29, 15 May 2008 (UTC)

- Kyle Barman is the founder of a large insurance comapny in Waunakee they sell to many busineses and provide a large amount of tax revenue for the area, as well as donate money to many charities including the NAACP, and the United Negro College foundation. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Chrisaalidissweet (talk • contribs) 20:50, 20 May 2008 (UTC)
- I have no doubt that Kyle Barman is an important person in Waunakee, but that does not make him "notable" in the context of WP:BIO, which is what determines notability in Wikipedia. If you read that guideline, I think you will understand. --Orlady (talk) 20:59, 20 May 2008 (UTC)
- It may be appropriate to mention and discuss Mr. Barman or his business in the article as part of documenting the encyclopedic story of Waunakee. For example, if the town hall was destroyed by tornado and he donated the money to rebuild it, it would be appropriate to tell about that in the article. However, the list of local "notables" generally should be limited to people who have made a splash in the outside world (consistent with WP:BIO), so that the person's connection with Waunakee could be considered a notable fact about Waunakee.--Orlady (talk) 21:05, 20 May 2008 (UTC)

And I WILL NOT ALLOW THE GOOD NAME OF KYLE INSURANCE TO BE DRAGGED THOUGH THE MUD. Like so many Demoes in lake Heron. Please re-add me to your list. Why exactly must Kyle have made a splash on the outside world. In fact the article is not about the outside world, but about waunakee. If you were to come to waunakee and you saw kyle standing tall at 6'11" with his broad shoulders, surely you would be taken and call him notable.--Radiozilla (talk) 17:40, 28 May 2008 (UTC)
- Enough. He fails the WP:BIO guidelines regardless of height. Ironholds (talk) 18:20, 28 May 2008 (UTC)

Another name that keeps getting added to the article. Again, seems to fail notability criteria. Mjroots (talk) 05:08, 21 May 2008 (UTC)
I would say she does meet the criteria, for she was on the telly.--Radiozilla (talk) 17:38, 28 May 2008 (UTC)
