Water Street in Eau Claire, Wisconsin is a business district positioned along the Chippewa River, serving both the historic districts of Eau Claire as well as University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire students. Although it hosts many restaurants and shops, Water Street is best-known for its large number of bars and taverns, catering mainly to the college-age crowd. Water Street has been claimed to have the highest concentration of bars per block or street in Wisconsin.^{[citation needed]}
