"Watch Valley" covers all the Swiss Jurassic Arc, from Geneva to Basel, and is the location of most of the Swiss watch-making industry.
From the 15th century, starting from Geneva, the cradle of the watch-making industry, the great majority of the companies related to the watch-making industry are today established in the Swiss Jura Mountains, where the tradition, rigour and know-how of the watchmakers have forged the international reputation of Swiss watches.
From Geneva to Basel, a 200 km (120 miles) distance, [1] is a red line on a map showing tourist the highlights of an area that contains the most prestigious of the world's watchmaking companies and conceals unsuspected treasures. Travels to and throughout the area, including visits to Swiss watchmaking companies, can be organized by the various tourist offices.
Watch Valley has been recognized as an official destination by Switzerland Tourism.
Outside of the realm of Watch Valley, at the North-Western outskirts of the Jura Mountains, Schaffhausen is also a well-reputed Swiss Watch Industry area.
