Watanga Football Club was founded on December 24, 1997 at Watanga base just outside of Monrovia. After the first civil war that ended in 1996 Former ex-combating of the rebel movement with nothing to do decided to make themself useful to the society. They form the Watanga FC name after the camp they reside "Camp Watanga".
