"War Child" is track number 6 from the 1982 album The Hunter by Blondie. The single was never released in the US and it was the lowest ranking non-remixed Blondie single to date in the U.K. at the time, peaking at number 39. It was the last release from the album, and was written by Debbie Harry and Nigel Harrison, who, together also wrote "One Way or Another", from the 1979 album Parallel Lines. The B-side to this single was "Little Caesar", also from The Hunter album.
The 12" single included an extended remix of the track by producer Mike Chapman, which can be found as a bonus track on EMI's 2001 CD re-issue of the album The Hunter.
Within weeks of the "War Child" single release in the summer of 1982 Blondie cancelled the remaining dates of their Hunter world tour (without band member Frank Infante who had already left the group) and shortly thereafter Blondie officially broke up.
The following year Debbie Harry released her first solo single after Blondie as she teamed up with producer Giorgio Moroder again on the track "Rush Rush" from the Al Pacino movie Scarface. Her second solo album Rockbird followed three years later.
