[edit] Fair use for Ran (film)

This image, War Ran.jpg, is being linked here; though the picture is subject to copyright I (Palm_Dogg) feel it is covered by the U.S. fair use laws because:

  1. It illustrates the text which it appears next to, namely the Ran Screenplay. Both are from the castle massacre. This scene in particular is used in many trailers for its shock value, and helps illustrate the complete anarchy and violence that pervades the film.
  2. It does not limit the copyright owner's rights to market or sell the film in any way;
  3. The image is being used in an informative way and should not detract from the film.
  4. No free or public domain images have been located for this film.
