The Wangaratta Magpies Football Club, officially known as the Wangaratta Magpies Football & Netball Club is an Australian rules football club which play in the Ovens and Murray Football League based in Wangaratta, Victoria at the Wangaratta Showgrounds complex.
The Wangaratta Magpies football club was the first football club to be founded in Wangaratta in the early 1900's.
The Wangaratta Football Club team colours colours consist of black and white to resemble a native Australian bird the Magpie.
The rival club of The Wangaratta Magpies was the second club to be founded in Wangaratta some years later in 1951, who are called the Wangaratta Rovers. It is always a fantastic game to watch when the two clubs play each other at their home or away grounds both situated very close to each other in Wangaratta. Great crowds are drawn to watch the two favourite teams clash head to head and usually the games are very close.
While the club has been successful in recent years, their last premiership, prior to 2007, was in 1976.
The football club consists of an under 18s 3rds side, a 2nds side and a 1sts side for the more experienced skillful players of any age group.
