Wang Chen (politician)

Wang Chen (Chinese: 王晨; Pinyin: Wáng Chén; 1950 - ) is the current director of Information Office of the State Council of the People's Republic of China.

Wang was born in Beijing in 1950. He served in Guangming Daily agency for many years, and became the editor in chief of that newspaper in 1995. In June 2000 he was appointed as vice director of CPC central propaganda department. He later became the editor in chief of People's Daily in August 2001. In October of same year, he became vice chairman of China National Journalist Association. He was promoted to president of People's Daily Agency. In March 2003, he became the chairman of Chinese Newspapers Association. In April 2008, he was appointed as the head of News Office in the state council.

He is a member of CPC 16th and 17th central committee, and a member of 9th CPPCC.
