The Walter F. George Lake (unofficially known as Lake Eufaula) is formed on the Chattahoochee River along the border between Alabama and Georgia. The lake extends north from the Walter F. George Lock and Dam providing approximately 640 miles (1,030 km) of shoreline. Popular activities along the lake include camping and trophy fishing.
The lake is primarily controlled by the US Army Corp of Engineers, but there are several other protected lands along the lake including the Eufaula National Wildlife Refuge, Lakepoint State Park in Alabama, and Florence Marina and George T. Bagby State Parks in Georgia. The dam is approximatley 30 miles (48 km) north of George W. Andrews Lock and Dam.
