Walter Butterfield (August 6, 1870July 19, 1954) was an English cricketer. He was a right-handed batsman and a right-arm medium-pace bowler who played first-class cricket for Derbyshire. He was born in Dewsbury and died in West Bridgford.

Butterfield made two appearances for Derbyshire during the 1896 County Championship season, the first coming in an innings defeat against Surrey in which Test batsman Tom Hayward made a double-century, and the second in the return fixture three weeks later, which once again finished in a crushing defeat, thanks to a century innings from Bobby Abel.

Butterfield was a tailend batsman for the Derbyshire side for the short period in which he played.
