Waleswood railway station

Waleswood railway station was a station on the Great Central Railway 's main line between Sheffield Victoria and Worksop.

The station was opened on 1st July 1907 by 'public demand' and was situated at the point where the Rotherham to Clowne road passes below the line and the 'Waleswood Curve', a connection from the Derbyshire Lines of the M.S.& L.R. at Killamarsh, joins the east-west main line. It was adjacent to Waleswood Colliery.

The station was of all wood construction with flanking platforms. The station booking hall suffered a major fire on 24th May 1953 when much internal damaged was caused and rail traffic was disrupted.

The station was closed on 7th March 1955.
