[edit] Waldo Cabrera
Waldo Cabrera is 41 years old and was born in the Dominican Republic. At the age of 8, He immigrated to the Bronx. Waldo helped his parents make ends meet by mopping and sweeping the six story building they lived in. This was one way his parents instilled in him strong work ethics and high moral values.
This experience stayed with him, encouraging him to strive and excel at all he does, first as president of his high school and then as a Cum Laude graduate of Syracuse University. Upon graduating from Syracuse University with honors, Waldo started a career in Advertising and was the Vice President of 4Kids Home Video. In the mid 90's, He moved to Brentwood where he met his wife Sandy. They married in 1999 and now have a 4 year-old son named Max.
Waldo Cabrera was part of the team that turned Pokemon into a $16 billion world-wide phenomenom. He also helped Yu-Gi-Oh!, Nintendo, Cabbage Patch Kids and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles become international hits. After realizing that most media covers the negative incidents in our towns, he created an Interned based TV station called Islip.tv, where he features the people and events that make our neighborhoods great. This spring, Islip.tv joined major journalists from CBS, NBC and WALK as a FOLIO Award winner; recently, they have also been chosen Best InternPolitical Site and Best Internet News Media and Publication at the 35th Annual Best on Long Island Awards. He also serves as C.E.O. of SW MAX, LLC, and the president of SW MAX Internacional SA (Dominican Republic). Additionally, Waldo single=handedly started a computer institute in his impoverished hometown Altamira in the Domincan Republic, creating jobs in the community and empowered it's citizens.
Waldo hopes to be the next Democratic Candidate Assemblyman for the 6th Assembly District. The Primary is September 9th, 2008.
