In the original script for Last Crusade, his original last name was Chandler and originally he was killed in the same way in that Vogel dies in the finished film (when the tank falls off into the cliff). Also his demise in the finished film (by drinking the false chalice) was originally supposed to be the demise for Elsa Schneider.
