[edit] NPOV

Speaking as someone not very familiar with the subject, it's not enough for me to read on wikipedia that someone I don't know is 'highly respected.' Please show me, don't tell me. Toscaesque 14:39, 28 September 2007 (UTC)

How it can be showed? Its the public opinion, which can only be sensed while being remain in public. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 221.132.113.157 (talk) 18:34, 28 September 2007 (UTC)
To quote wikipedia policy, it can be shown by asserting "facts, including facts about opinions," but not asserting "the opinions themselves." The idea that he is "highly respected" is an opinion. "He gained more honour and respect" is also non-verifiable, and therefore does not belong on wikipedia. Just state the facts. Let others draw their own opinions. Properly cited quotations about him from public figures saying he is respected would be fine, but it's not our call as editors whether to say that opinion is correct or not.
Also, please don't remove the NPOV tag until this dispute has been resolved. Toscaesque 20:11, 13 October 2007 (UTC)
