Am Beispiel vom zweiten Satz aus der Sonate für Flöte und Klavier A-dur von J. S. Bach werden klare Proportionen zwischen den größten Bauelementen der Form gezeigt. In einer detaillierten Analyse werden nicht quadratische periodische Reihen und ihr metrorhythmisches Wesen gezeigt. Anschliessend wird die musikalische Bedeutung der Zahlentypen 2n, 3n u.a. diskutiert (Quadraten und Quasi-Quadraten). Für alle angesprochene Themen werden viele Beispiele auch aus anderen Musikstücken gebracht.
