Vulchitrun
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Vulchitrun is a village in the Pleven region, Bulgaria. Established by Thracians in 458, it is home of the one of the biggest Thracian treasures in Bulgaria — the Vulchitrun treasure — found by peasants working in their garden.
Vulchitrun has Nikita Khrushchev as an honorary citizen. Khrushchev was on his way to Sofia in a plane, when the plane experienced technical difficulties and had to land in Kamenetz, a small town nearby which had a military airfield. Khrushchev had to pass through Vulchitrun in order to get to Sofia.
The current mayor of Vulchitrun is Bogomil Petrov. Today Vulchitrun is mainly a bird breeding cooperative.
