[edit] [EPTO]

The [European Peer Training Organisation] (EPTO) educates youth leaders to discuss issues related to prejudice and discrimination; to lead workshops that challenge stereotypes; and to become activists against exclusion within their youth organisations, schools and society. Through train-the-trainer programmes, peer trainer conferences, multi-day and short-term workshops, and a website, EPTO coordinates a network of peer trainers from several European countries who have led workshops for thousands of additional youth. Begun in 1996 as a pilot project, EPTO has grown into a solid and sustainable youth association with the support and guidance of its founding organisations (statutes available upon request). As its youth department, EPTO is supported by the Centre Européen Juif d’Information (CEJI). Sponsored by the [YOUTH Programme] of the [European Commission], EPTO furthers the European Union’s objective to create a widespread “snowball effect“ where young people are pioneering anti-racist education, “... by empowering other young Europeans and to create a momentum of activities, which in the long run, could affect civil society as a whole.“ Most of the materials and techniques used by EPTO are from the [Anti-Defamation League] (ADL) [A WORLD OF DIFFERENCE® Institute]. In partnership with numerous local and national associations, youth leaders from several European countries have been trained as part of the organisation, resulting in an impact on thousands of youth throughout Europe. Over the next decade, EPTO will continue to grow as a viable and effective antidiscrimination force throughout the [European Union] and its member states. © 2002 Anti-Defamation League A WORLD OF DIFFERENCE® Institute
