• Oh wow, I totally forgot about that song. I'm adding it to my list of music to pick up. Merge to Toxicity (album), redirect, and place on cleanup to make the prose a bit easier to parse. Actually fairly good analysis of the lyrics, and I've heard about the theory of "Suey!" being short for suicide before, and the bit about Father Armeni is supported by the System of a Down article, although I haven't checked to see if the same person wrote in both - RedWordSmith 20:43, 28 Sep 2004 (UTC)

  • utter nonsense? It seems to make sense to me. The band/album references are correct. System of a Down are in fact from Armenia. The lyrics posted are actual lyrics from the song.
  • fan-worship essay? No more than articles about individual Beatles songs are.
  • It may or may not be original research, I haven't checked into it.
• Generally I agree with most people here - merge with Toxicity (album). But why not merge all the Beatles singles with an article into their respective albums as well? Notability? If all those Beatles tracks are notable, I think any song that reaches top five (Chop Suey was #3 in 2001) in a Triple J Hottest 100 is notable. -- Chuq 05:10, 30 Sep 2004 (UTC)
  • There is an important distinction between temporary popularity and long-term cultural impact. Some (but not all!) of the Beatles' songs fall into the latter category; most top-5 songs do not. It's sometimes a fine line, of course. In this case, though, I'm pretty comfortable with the judgement that "Chop Suey!" is on the "temporary popularity" side. • Benc • 01:00, 1 Oct 2004 (UTC)
