[edit] Minor character

The Voodoo Lady is a very minor character in The Secret of Monkey Island. If she is a "very minor character", why does she have he own page? This should be merged with the minor character page.

[edit] Involvement exaggerations

Technically the voodoo lady doesn't exaggerate by claiming to have created the voodoo doll of LeChuck; she just omitted the fact Guybrush had to look for the ingredients. Siggie 06:15, 27 July 2006 (UTC)

guybrush found a genric doll that look like lechuck she showed him how to make one

[edit] POTC connection

The Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest character Tia Dalma is believed to have been based on Voodoo Lady.

Based on what? The fact that they both live in a swamp and are Voodoo priestesses? They are neither of the same age, build, dental hygiene or dialect. Until someone proves that POTC writers were inspired by MI this sort of claims should stay out of ALL Monkey Island related articles. Additionally "is believed" is not a source. -TheHande 21:10, 13 January 2007 (UTC)

The paragraph says that it 'is believed', not that she IS based on VL. We are quoting that portions of fans, we are not taking position. The similarities you mentioned are not unnoticeable and both franchises have dedicated fandoms. What's up with you people who deny incoditionally to hear about these similarities, be they many or few? They can be coincidental, yes, but what's wrong with people who notice and wonder about them? Sorry, but I've heard so much nonsence on the POTC-MI thing that I tend to get a little agitated. -TheHande 07:01, 15 January 2007 (UTC)

I thought so already... calm down, pal :) I just hope that I manage to avoid the nonsense... Pictureuploader 10:34, 15 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Never meet the voodoo lady in the first game?

In the section where it discusses how she sometimes oversells her involvement in past games (which a number of characters do in later games, not just the voodoo lady.. I don't think this is a continuity error.. I think the characters are choosing to lie to make themselves appear more brave than they are and to steal guybrush (the player's) past accomplishments, but in telling the player, who clearly knows they did these things in the past, the intended effect is comical.

This brings me to the confusion some players have because they may never meet the voodoo lady. How is this possible? You need to recruit Meathook to sail (sun tan on) your ship. To get to meathook, you need a rubber chicken with a pulley in the middle which you pick up at the voodoo lady's shop. On picking the chicken up, she demands you speak to her in the other room if you have not already.
