Talk:Volvo Ocean Race
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
As a big fan of the Volvo, do you believe that the 70s were a good step forward? I do, please post your opinions and views! (anon)
- My understanding is that the discussion page is for talk specifically about ways to improve the article; it's not a forum or a blog, therefore please do not post your opinions. You may want to check out SailingAnarchy for that. Thanks. 158.59.27.28 15:05, 6 July 2007 (UTC)

Does anyone have any objection to my changing the first line to adopt more of a "world grammar speaking tone?" I don't say this with any ill-intent. It's not my intention to offend. Specifically, I'd like the phrase "...a yacht race around the world" to read either, "is a race of yachts circumnavigating the globe," or "races all of the way around the world." or "Every four years the Volvo Ocean Race races yachts around the globe." - I'm open to ideas. It just seems to throw a lot of words into a not very readable sentence. Again, correct me if I'm wrong. If this seems fine, so state and I'll leave it alone. I think the readability could be increased significantly. If nobody has any objections, I would like to re-word with the article towards the same end-result. I would, of course, end the passive speech, parenthetical notation, appositives, and questions.--Legomancer 01:34, 27 April 2007 (UTC)
- I agree with you. The article does need a re-write. Please go ahead.--thunderboltz(TALK) 12:42, 30 April 2007 (UTC)
Suggestion for the truly bored stumbling across this page- make seperate pages for each edition of the race, and reduce the 05-06 stuff to just a summary on here, so that the (hopefully forthcoming) detail on the 08-09 race doesn't cause this page to implode under its gravitational and form a small star.
Seems to be every third year from now on. 2005-2006, 2008-2009, ... So the very first sentences is not correct anymore.
- Got a link to a reference for that? scot 14:19, 2 July 2007 (UTC)
