Vojvodina Academy of Sciences and Arts
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Vojvodina Academy of Sciences and Arts (Serbian: Vojvođanska akademija nauka i umetnosti, VANU; Hungarian: Vajdasági Tudományos és Művészeti Akadémia, Croatian: Vojvođanska akademija znanosti i umetnosti) is an academic institution in Vojvodina, Serbia. The modern academy was formed by an act of the Assembly of Vojvodina in 2003. Its president is Julijan Tamaš.[1]
The organization has come into conflict with the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts (SANU).[2] After the original VANU ceased operating in 1992, its property and members were absorbed into SANU to the dissatisfaction of some members.[3]
