Vital Suits are armed and armored powered exoskeletons/mechs used in the game Lost Planet: Extreme Condition. They are primarily used by the Main Character Wayne, Snow Pirates and members of the NEVEC corporation. Vital suits generally carry two heavy weapons and vary in abilities. Using a vital suit provides greater firepower, mobility, and defense at the cost of thermal energy. The origins of the Vital suit are debatable as different sources mention the earliest hintings of the vital suit. The Neo Venus Construction website (run by Capcom) hints in certain parts of the site not readily accessible, that Nevc had plans to create walking construction vehicles that can be easily converted for combat in a matter of moments. However, the game manual and many other game sources say that Turkey Inc. was the first to create vital suits. The relationship between Turkey Inc. and Nevec is unknown and as to whether or not this is conflicting canon is debatable.

[edit] Vital Suits
GTT-01 Nida
The GTT-01 was the first vital suit made. Nida was created to improve upon the previous four legged construction models. This bipedal improvement allowed construction to be carried out on more diverse terrain types. After the absorption of Turkey Inc. by Fineriver, the GTF-11 replaced the design of Nida. It is mainly used by the snow pirates after the second colonization attempt.
GTF-11 Drio
While the GTT-01 was made for construction and work efforts, the GTF-11 expands for Akrid combat. Drio was designed with an advanced posture control system originally designed for space fighters. With this technology the GTF-11 is able to perform temporary hovering maneuvers and dashes. However, it uses the same engine as the GTT-01 Nida, so it as efficient as the Nida and has a long start-up. After the second colonization attempt Drio came to replace the Nida vital suit as it was far more adaptable.
GTF-11CC Drio-CC
GTF-11CCs were commandeered GTF-11s. For the most part they were the same as the original Drio vital suit, however years of improper maintenance has led to the rusty colored look and less functionality (mainly weakened hull integrity strength). Crimson Unity used the Drio-CC mainly to serve as a distraction and support for troops or until stronger support, such as the GTB-22CC, arrives.
GTB-22 Faze
Previous vital suits were created with Akrid combat in mind. The GTB-22 was designed as a military transport. The GTB-22 was designed by Big Black Inc. and does not have any flight capabilities but rather a more advanced jumping system. Despite the lack of advanced flight capabilities Faze is quite mobile. The cockpit sports a unique device that lets the legs turn independently from the upper half of the vital suit. This allows for smoother turning and change in direction. Its walking speed is faster than the walking speed of the suits manufactured by Fineriver. As well as a faster walking speed the GTB-22 can jump higher. The Faze vital suit can perform a midair direction changing double jump or a long jump. The long jump requires a few second charge up in order to reach higher heights and can be canceled into a fast falling and offensive drop. One special feature is that it is equipped with a visibility reducing smokescreen. All of these features demonstrate that the GTB-22 specializes more in anti-vital suit combat than anti-akrid combat.
GTB-22CC Faze CC
Crimson Unity commandeered many vital suits in their attacks. Among their deadliest suits was the GTB-22CC. This version of Faze was modified to reach higher heights and specialize in surprise attacks from above. The one seen at the Crimson Unity Fortress features a missile launcher and a Gatling gun and is painted with a shark face scheme on the cockpit. Unlike the Nevec pilots of the GAN-37 the pilot of the GTB-22CC utilizes the aerial thrust stomp and quite occasionally. Faze CC still retains the smoke screen like the original GTB-22. It is unconfirmed how many GTB-22CCs exist, but there is most likely one due to the lack of sightings and/or usage outside the Crimson Fortress and the suit's original designation as an Anti-VS specialist (possibly making it harder to fight and commandeer intact).
GTF-13M Evax
Among the weakest vital suits in the game, the GTF-13F is arguably the fastest. This suit is manufactured by Fineriver Inc. mainly as a scouting vehicle by applying a folding mechanism to a bike frame. In order to be light enough for fast travel the GTF-13F carries only one weapon. It has a weak jumping ability and is unable to walk fast. However these weaknesses are remedied through a transformation that changes Evax into a fast bike. This mode uses an energy thruster and is quite efficient with thermal energy use when traveling distances.
GTF-13F Vensa
The compact size of Evax was seen as a great advantage when using vital suits in quantity over quality. The GTF-13F takes the compact size of the Evax vital suit and makes it even smaller by removing the complex and costly folding bike mechanism. In terms of functionality it is same as the GTF-13M without the bike mode.
GTF-11i Firecracker
The GTF-11i is an advanced vital suit piloted by Basil. Its overall structure is like that of the regular GTF-11 save for the armor over the cockpit. The weaponry layout includes a multi joint for various weapon attachments, a sweeping plasma beam, and leg mounted missiles. Firecracker also supports a smokescreen, decoys for an escape measure, and is also able to dash sideways for a moment as well as forward for prolonged periods. Finally it sports a walking movement that is faster than the GTF-11. The cockpit armor sports a unique design to distinguish the suit from ordinary NEVEC forces.
PTX-40A Ivan
Developed by Gale, the PTX-40A is among the most advanced vital suits in the game. Ivan sports a radically different control system as the suit's movement is responsive to the pilot's thoughts. This is possible by using a super computer that reads the pilot's brainwaves and transfers the reconverted data to the suit's system. It sports a white color scheme. The PTX-40A features a VS saw as well as dashing and hovering abilities. Its dash and hover abilities are similar to that of the GTF-11 save for the increased time and speed of the PTX-40A. It is hinted in official files that the PTX-40A has more advanced abilities, but they have yet to be confirmed. The suit is possibly named after Ivan Solotov who may or may not have been involved with Gale Holden in designing the suit.
PTX-140 Hardballer
The PTX-40A was considered far too expensive as well as too large to move at fast speeds feasibly to mass produce in exact replica. With this obstacle the PTX-140 was created. The PTX-140 is similar to the PTX-40A but smaller and darker in appearance as well as less efficient due to a smaller engine. Unlike the PTX-40A, the PTX-140 is brown. The PTX-140 is able to dash and hover albeit it consumes more thermal energy and its maneuvers do not last as long as Ivan's due to a smaller engine. PTX-140 also sports a VS saw. Despite the fair abundance of this vital suit in NEVEC controlled areas, it is never seen in the game piloted by NEVEC forces. This could possibly be due to the complexity handling the machine or the rate of thermal energy drain at full capacity; both limitations Wayne can surpass with his experience and harmonizer respectively.
L-P-9999 Yuri
The L-P-9999 is the most advanced VS based on the Gale VS design. Using the attachment on the Wayne Harmonizer, the L-P-9999's power limit is exceeded creating a consistent flight apparatus. It is equipped with two EMF blades and a vulcan gun. The L-P-9999 is only available in the final level of story mode, to fight the VS Billion Sword. The L-P-9999 is named in honor of Ivan Solotov's son Yuri, who provided the necessary harmonizer attachment to access the suit's higher performance levels.
[edit] Nevec Vital Suits
GAN-34 Granseed
Nevec sought to improve earlier designs of previous Vital Suits. One such example is the GAN-34. In terms of function Granseed is similar to the GTF-11. The main change in the GAN-34 is a cosmetic one. Rather than have smooth rounded armor, Nevec decided to use angular shaped armor. This results in stronger armor and a more imposing appearance. The cockpit, unlike the one on the GTF-11, is completely surrounded in armor. Granseed's computer system is more advanced than Drio's. This improvement corrects malfunctions in mobility that are due to pilot error.
GAN-37 X-Seed
Since the GTB-22 was originally designed as a military transport Nevec had little to change in the design of the GAN-37. The GAN-37 sports the same functions of mobility as Faze. The only difference with the GAN-37 and the GTB-22 is that the GAN-37 sports the signature Nevec style angular armor and that NEVEC had increased the power of the vital suit to handle the increased armor.
GAB-25M Cakti
The majority of vital suit created walked on two legs. The GAB-25M walks on four legs and travels on treads. It is developed by Big Black Inc. and is among the most and advanced vital suits in the game. This suit was developed after analyzing previous vital suits. Cakti also features a unique transformation. It can change from a mobile four legged VS to a well armored tank. Its weaponry includes a folding cannon, the laser vulcan in VS form, and drills in the tank form. Cakti features an experimental auto balance-system making it able to hover in midair while in VS form. It is designed for both anti-akrid and anti-VS battle superiority. One version of the GAB-25M replaces the cannon and laser vulcan with a set of homing missiles and a gatling gun.
GAB-25DM D-Cakti
A suit created as as part of Big Black Inc.'s "Defeat Series" D-Cakti is in essence an enlarged GAB-25M. Although similar in armament to its smaller version the GAB-25DM requires five pilots to operate. D-Cakti features the standard cannon, twin laser vulcans, drills, and a 4 round missile launcher. Despite it being an effective machine, its purpose is unknown.
PTX-40A-2 Heavy Ivan
Nevec took the PTX-40A and made attempts to access the suit's superior performance levels. This upgrade to Ivan is known as the PTX-40A-2 Heavy Ivan. Unfortunately for Nevec this goal was never realized as the harmonizer they possessed was not sufficiently advanced enough. Instead of utilizing multi-joints for weapon conversion, Nevec customized Heavy Ivan to be suited to many jobs at once. As well as added angular armor over the original frame, the PTX-40A-2 features electric drills built over nonfunctional EMF blades, homing missile launchers, and built in Gatling guns. As an added defense, Heavy Ivan also features a shield. The shield negates some damage that would be originally taken at full force from other weapons. However energy weapons and heavy weapons like the VS shotgun or the VS rocket launcher can surpass this defense most of the time. Despite all the bulk off added weaponry and defenses, the PTX-40A-2 is so finely tuned that there is no loss in mobility from the original Ivan Vital Suit performance. Despite such a success in creating an effective Vital Suit Nevec failed to create the suit en masse citing a lack of interest or lack of ability to do so. After the player defeats the PTX-40A-2 Heavy Ivan, all of NEVEC's add-ons are released, and the Heavy Ivan is regular Ivan once again.
DBS-000XM Billion Sword
Created by Big Black Inc., the DBS000XM Billion Sword was designed to be a decisive battle winner. It is another VS capable of sustained flight aside from the L-P-9999. Billion Sword was designed after NEVEC had taken the PTX-40A. Attempts to power up the PTX-40A inspired NEVEC to design a suit based on the analysis gained during those attempts. Billion Sword is designed to work with the Dennis harmonizer. Billion Sword can be considered the most powerful suit in the game overall, however it relies on external power sources to achieve this power. The DBS-000XM takes microwave signals and converts those signals into energy for the suit. The suit relies on thermal energy as well. Billion Sword is among the most complex and most heavily armed vital suit in the game. The suit can transform into a travel mode with a Javelin ramming attack (a simple attack that uses the more streamlined mode and faster speed to ram into objects using the suit itself). The regular combat mode boasts several long range attacks as well as deadly melee heat blades. Included in the long distance armament are vulcan lasers, homing missiles, external laser cannons (one which performs a vertical continuous sweeping motion while the other shoots several lasers in one burst extend out from a point on a horizontal plain), and homing lasers. Close range weaponry and defenses include up to five heating blades (which appear to be a different color than the EMF Blades, hinting at possible different technology used), and aerial mines (designed to damage any would be attackers that close distance to the DBS-000XM.) Finally Billion Sword utilizes a shield similar to the one found on the PTX-40A-2, albeit with more power and the ability to completely stop more attacks. The heavy armament and armor make the DBS-000XM harder to maneuver for sustained periods that the L-P-9999 can pull off.

Gatling Gun

The Gatling is a fully automatic Weapon provides the fastest rate of fire. It is superior to the Machine gun in range and power. The Gatling gun is weaker than other VS weapons but provides a fast rate of reload making it particularly effective against several smaller enemies. Against larger enemies the fast rate of fire provides ease of use at a steady rate of fire.
VS Rocket Launcher

The VS Rocket Launcher is among the most powerful weapons in the game that can be used and the most powerful in direct fire and direct combat. It fires a powerful projectile and is accurate from afar. The weapon fires at a much slower rate than other weapons due to the reload time and the projectile travels at a fairly observable speed. The weapon has a higher collateral explosion than the one intended for humans and if fired closed enough to the target can cause damage to the user.
VS Shotgun

The VS Shotgun is similar to an ordinary shotgun in function but is intended for VS and Akrid combat. It fires at a slower rate than the ordinary shotgun but makes up by providing a much stronger punch. Preparation for the next shot is done through the use of gas provided by the firing of the previous shell until a complete reload is needed.
Laser Rifle

The laser rifle is a weapon that utilizes thermal energy to create a charged beam for damage. Its range of damage is moderate to heavy depending on the level of charge. Due to the use of energy the laser rifle lacks the need for conventional ammunition and is infinite in usage so long as there is thermal energy.
Grenade Launcher

The Grenade Launcher is a slow firing heavy damage VS weapon. Once the shot has hit a surface it will explode and scatter multiple explosives that go off after a short time. Ineffective due to low accuracy against fast moving targets and slow reload rate. Inefficiencies are made up for with a clip size similar to the missile launcher. (Mostly found in second half of campaign due to damage levels.)
Missile Launcher

The missile launcher, in essence, is a disposable fast action rocket launcher. The missile cannot be changed on the field and cannot be reloaded with more than the standard 24 rounds it comes with on the field. The missile projectile functions like a rocket launcher in many respects, requiring a reload after four rounds have been fired. The missile launcher focuses more on quantity over quality unlike the rocket launcher resulting in a slower traveling and weaker hitting projectile fired at a faster rate. Despite the name of the weapon the missile launcher lacks any homing abilities.
VS Saw

A rotating chainsaw mounted on the arm of the PTX-40A and the PTX-140. It cannot be detached or reattached. It is among the few melee weapons in the game. Once activated it unfolds out of its housing to start spinning the teeth which glow red. The VS Saw can be used in a quick stepping swipe or can be activated to provide an automatic saw. In the latter mode thermal energy is consumed at an accelerated pace until deactivated. It is effective against Akrid and Vital Suits, and will also instantly kill any human opponents if the blade strikes them.
Cannon

A regular shell-firing cannon that is mounted on a VS. Unlike many other VS weapons, the cannon cannot be removed from a VS. While mounted on the VS, it causes moderate splash damage to most targets and can pose a threat to other VS'. It has an autoloader that reloads it while on a VS arm , eliminating the need for a gun crew.
Drill

The Drill is a weapon that is unique to the GAB-25M . The drill is used for penetrating rock walls. Another use for the drill is that of an offensive one. It can be used while the GAB-25M is stationary or it can be used for a length of time in an accelerated attack. The drill can only be used in the GAB-25M's tank form.
Laser Vulcan

The Laser Vulcan is another weapon which is unique to the GAB-25M. It fires individual bolts in a fully automatic mode. The vulcan laser, being an energy weapon as well as a fully automatic weapon, consumes thermal energy at a fast rate. The Laser Vulcan cannot be exchanged on the field.
Homing Laser

The homing laser is a four shot device mimicking homing missiles. The homing laser can ready up to four shots to seek a target. Homing lasers begin the targeting sequence during charge up and up to four targets (alternatively four lasers on one target) can be selected with a homing laser on one multi joint. Being an energy weapon the homing laser drains thermal energy when in use. The homing laser is intended for mid long range attacks easing the need to aim. This comes at the cost of a blind spot in front of the VS utilising the weapon as the laser rounds arc up and out before homing into a target. The homing laser is fairly damaging to targets.
EM Laser

Similar in functionality of the laser in practically every way but with a few differences. The EM Laser charges a laser with electromagnetic energy. The addition of the electromagnetic field to the laser allows for a stun effect on successfully hit targets. The EM Laser fires a purple beam rather than the blue beam of the Laser Rifle. Like the Laser Rifle the EM Laser can be charged for more firepower. The EM Laser is superior in performance compared to the Laser Rifle but requires more thermal energy as a result and also travels at a slower rate.
EMF Blades

EMF blades are exclusive to the L-P-9999. They are among the most powerful weapons in the game, capable of taking out an ordinary VS in one hit. EMF Blades are among the few VS weapons capable of melee attacks. As well as melee attacks, the EMF blades are capable of firing a vulcan laser burst and a homing laser projectile.
Vulcan Gun

Similar to the Laser Vulcan, the Vulcan Gun is exclusive to the L-P-9999. It is fairly effective against other Vital suits, firing two lasers at a fast rate and is already built into the frame of the L-P-9999
