[edit] Biography
[edit] Early Career
Mellars played junior football for Wainuiomata and Petone.
[edit] 2003
Vince Mellars made his NRL debut in Round 13, 2003, with the Warriors against Cronulla Sharks.
[edit] 2004
When he played with the Warriors throughout the 2003/2004 seasons, he scored 1 try.
[edit] 2005
In 2005, Cronulla Sharks signed Vince Mellars. He scored a double vs. Knights in 2005 and scored the winning try in Golden Point extra time. Cronulla did not re-sign Vince Mellars in 2006, so he signed with the Newtown Jets (which was Cronulla Sharks Premier League in 2005, but Sydney Roosters in 2006, and still is).
[edit] 2006-present
In Round 6 2006, Vince Mellars made a shock NRL comeback, when he was chosen to play vs. Broncos on the Wing. He was very good under the high ball that night and was probably the Rooster's best player that night. He scored his first try of 2006 in Round 8 vs. North Queensland Cowboys. His second try of 2006, was vs. Souths in Round 11 and his 3rd was against Storm in Round 13.
When Ricky Stuart made changes to the Roosters line-up, in Round 16, Vince Mellars was in Premier League for a couple of weeks. In Round 18, he was a late call up for the game vs. Manly Sea Eagles (to replace Shaun Foley). He was then in the Roosters line-up for the next few weeks until the Roosters were beaten by the Bulldogs 25-0. Stuart made changes to the team and Mellars was dropped. Later on that year, he played in the Premier League Grand Final.
Vince Mellars is expected to play in the Centres throughout 2007 for the Roosters, replacing Ryan Cross, who went to Rugby Union.
Vince Mellars has been unable to make the Sydney Roosters Team in 2007 so far. One of the Reason why, is he injured his knee in Round 8 for the Newtown Jets(Roosters Preimer League Team). Mellars is expected to Return in Round 14.
