Talk:Vincent F. A. Golphin

NPOV dispute - I don't know if this is my place, but this article seems heavily biased, and unabashedly enthusiastic about Vincent Golphin. However, after looking at the number of edits, I might be in the minority on this one. —Preceding comment added by 129.21.39.9 (talk) 16:58, 8 October 2007 (UTC) I know for a fact that VFAG wrote most of this entry himself. He's non-notable. A check of the entire New York Times archives reveals he did not publish a single article despite the article's claims. Also, he is "Vwriter," the author of the page. I work with him. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.188.228.254 (talk) 02:53, 15 October 2007 (UTC) All I can say is that I whole-heartedly agree with the NPOV and notability arguments. I do not know if Mr. Golphin has penned this page or not, but it does sound as if someone very close to the subject is absolutely, totally gushing about a minor, relatively ill-published writer.
This article does sound as if it were written as a promotional advertisement rather than an encyclopedia entry.24.97.210.50 13:43, 17 October 2007 (UTC)
I agree with all the above. I HATE Wikipedia for precisely these reasons. It has become a self-serving advertising space for people like Vincent F.A. Golphin. unsigned(UTC)
[edit] HATERS LIVE LONG AND PROSPER
All I can say about the negative comments above is that they are inaccurate. First, I am Vwriter, but have never talked about writing on Wikipedia with a co-worker. Even when students bring up the entry I tell them that I do not read it, and that its existence is an embarrassment. In fact, check the history, I rarely look at the site. The recent visits have been prompted by e-mails that informed me that someone has defaced the entry.
Second, the person who claims to have "checked the entire New York Times archives" is equally off. I have tear sheets of the articles and columns that ran on the wires.
Third, as to whether my career merits attention in Wikipedia, that is up to the administrators or editors of the publication. Most of the real biographic detail that was listed in the beginning has been removed by those who seem to have taken on a life crusade as my critics.
I did not place the entry on Wikipedia. I did not ask anyone to place my information on the net. I have no interest in its presence on the net. The person who posted the first entry, and those who have contributed since 2004 seem to have a desire to shape the information. I have only attempted to contribute accurate details where exaggerations or outright mistakes were posted. For example, I fixed the name to include the middle initials, which is how my name appears nearly all times in print. In fact, a person contacted me and asked me to respond to the inaccurate statements above. He knew that I did not post the entry, nor have an interest in its preservation. The negative, unsigned statements above contain no truth, as far as I am aware. If someone wants to continue this argument they may, but I am finished with this subject. [[Vincent F. A.
