Villard-de-Lans is a town and commune of France on the Vercors Plateau in the Isère département.

The town is a centre for skiing in Winter and hiking and hot air ballooning in other seasons.

[edit] 1968 Winter Olympics

At the 1968 Winter Olympics held in neighboring Grenoble, it played host to the luge events.[1] Costing FRF 3,190,000 to complete, it was completed using 1400 cubic meters of earthwork and 1800 cubic meters of reinforced concrete to complete.[1] The facility had three start houses, 132 lighting posts, telephone circuitry, and 40 loudspeakers, and a signaling system for the competitors.[1]
