Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia, as you did to Forensic entomology. Wikipedia is not a mere directory of links, nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include (but are not limited to) links to personal web sites, links to web sites with which you are affiliated, and links that attract visitors to a web site or promote a product. Thanks for leaving a message on my talk page. You seem to have misunderstood our guidelines on external links. The nonprofit status of your institution is irrelevant to the appropriateness of the link. There is nothing encyclopedic about your website's homepage in relation to forensic entomology. We do not list institutions that provide courses in a subject except in exceptional circumstances (which this is not). Our guideline that editors not add links to sites they are affiliated with, and our spam guidelines apply to nonprofit organizations as well as for profit ones. We welcome editors who wish to volunteer for Wikipedia, and attempt to add appropriate content to articles to create NPOV articles. But editing to promote your organization is not appropriate. Please do not re-add the link directly to the article. If you wish to make a case for the link, post it to the talk page with an explanation of why you think it is appropriate after all. There regular editors of the article can assess the link and your case, and they will add it to the article if they agree with you. -- Siobhan Hansa 19:12, 10 May 2007 (UTC)
