Việt Võ Đạo (越武道) is the philosophy behind many Vietnamese martial arts.

Việt (越) to transcend or transcendence, derivative of the country name Vietnam.
(武) martial art
Đạo (道) the way, the path one takes; the method or the principle

During and after the Vietnam war, many Vietnamese martial artists got scattered in a diaspora. The "Việt Võ Đạo Federation" was founded November 3rd, 1973 in order to re-unite some Vietnamese martial arts:

  • Vovinam (Vovinam Viet Vo Dao)
  • Qwan Ki Do (Quan Ky)
  • Bach Hac (White Crane)
  • Thanh Long (Ascending Dragon)

Therefore "Việt Võ Đạo" is also used as a generic term for certain Vietnamese martial arts and philosophies.

In continuation Việt Võ Đạo becomes "Nhan Võ Đạo", the philosophy behind the martial art of all human beings.
