[edit] Film editing

This needs to be merged into film editing. Please comment there. Quarl (talk) 2006-01-14 07:18Z

Please read the comments at film editing regarding this issue. Consider it dead (this is a disambig page!). --tonsofpcs (Talk) 05:31, 20 May 2006 (UTC)
Not merged into "film editing" as a subset of film editing. Rather the two should be combined under a new master topic like "Editing (film and video)." Personally though I think they need to be separate articles. -Fogelmatrix 15:52, 1 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] EDLs

Could add link to EDLs (edit decision lists). Not sure how to do this. Glennchan 17:12, 6 October 2006 (UTC)

why does it say "What are you looking at? Nothing..." at the bottom of this page?

[edit] Cleanup

I placed a cleanup tag on this article, because I don't think it suitably covers the topic. It briefly discusses the subject's history, but mainly discusses the types of software available to video editors. There is nothing about technique, the art, or the technology (and technological aspects, formats, standards, etc.) involved. If this is to be a separate article from film editing, then we should expand it to encompass the practice as a whole. Also, the article begins with "The term video editing can refer to." It should begin with an overall summary of the topic, and move through the history of the medium. It can have a separate sections about linear editing (which came first in the history of the practice), then non-linear editing. In fact, these could be their own articles, and this page could be an overall summary and history of both forms, with a disambiguation page at the top. -Fogelmatrix 15:51, 1 April 2008 (UTC)

I don't believe that Video editing is intended as a main article. It's more of a disambiguation page. It simply lists the two major forms of video editing and allows readers to use the links to get to either article for more detail. As far as history, linear and non-linear editing share some common history, but to add that to this page would duplicate material included in each of the linked articles.Thomprod (talk) 15:42, 13 April 2008 (UTC)
