Can it be that no one noticed that an article this central to the entire sweep of television technology was only a disambig page (and before that a redirect to camcorder, a mere subset of the video camera family)? Before one even begins to look at the pages linked from this page, it helps to have an understanding of what the general case of "video camera" is, and a dab page doesn't do that. I've added a bit of history and fleshed out the former disambig link farm a little, but there's got to be a wealth of other history and technical information that would be useful for this article.
