Venu Ravichandran

Venu Ravichandran also known as Oscar Ravichandran is a popular film producer and distributor in the Tamil-based film industry. His hits include Unnale Unnale, Anniyan and Rendu.

In 2006, he distributed and supported several films that were facing financial problems and all of them did well. He distributed almost all the biggest hits of Tamil Cinema Industry in 2006: They include: Chithiram Pesuthadi, Dishyum, Thambi, Parijatham, Thalai Nagaram, Vettaiyadu Villaiyadu, Varalaru, Rendu and Thiruvilayadal Arambam.

His Summer 2008 lineup includes, Dasavatharam and Vaaranam Aayiram.

He is described as the most risk taking producer in Kodambakkam aka Tamil Film Industry.^{[citation needed]}

The Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences (AMPAS), which presents the prestigious Oscar Awards is rumoured to have sent him a letter for copyright violation. Ravichandran's banner is named Oscar Films and carries the logo of AMPAS.

Ravichandran now says he has decided to change his company name and logo. Says Ravichandran: "I decided to have my son Sanjith's image as the new official logo and henceforth my company will be known as ‘Aascar Films’.

Ravi says he has changed his company name and logo due to personal reasons and there is no pressure of any sorts. Added Ravichandran: “There are 54 companies worldwide using the title Oscar. I really don't understand the hue and cry over it."
