Talk:Ven, Sweden

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Why is this article called Hven? The official name is Ven, Hven is the old spelling.

The English spelling is "Hven". Fred-Chess 11:26, 13 January 2006 (UTC)
Is there really an "English spelling" for this little island? Is it the same thing with "Hvellinge" or "Hvetlanda"? "Hv" was used for "v" in many swedish words before the "orthograpich reform" in the beginng of the 20th century. --Vedum 23:15, 4 January 2007 (UTC)
Yes, it's the same but it was changed much later than Hvellinge and Hvetlanda 84.216.47.99 14:26, 1 April 2007 (UTC)
The "modern" spelling Ven is most commonly used in English. --Muniswede 20:58, 7 June 2007 (UTC)
In the Swedish article about this island the year of the transition to Swedish rule has been settled to 1658 (as the rest of Scania). This fact was however confirmed in 1660 (Treaty of Copenhagen). I will now try to change some of the articles in other languages. --Muniswede (talk) 21:38, 17 December 2007 (UTC)
