[edit] Welcome to Wikipedia!!!

Hello VegKilla! Welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. If you decide that you need help, check out Wikipedia:Where to ask a question, ask me on my talk page, or place {{helpme}} on your talk page and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Please remember to sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. Finally, Please do your best to always fill in the summary field. This is considered an important guideline in Wikipedia. Even a short summary is better than no summary. An edit summary is even more important if you delete any text; otherwise, people may think you're being sneaky or even vandalizing. Below are some recommended guidelines to facilitate your involvement. Happy Editing! --  Netsnipe  (Talk)  21:22, 25 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Template:3CC

What happened to Template:3CC? Wasn't that the one that showed every three-letter-combination? I used to use that template when navigating Wikipedia, and I have used it in articles I created (such as CHW (disambiguation)).

I looked in the TfD to try and figure out why it was deleted, but I cannot seem to find any mention of it anywhere except in your deletion log, which says:

10:11, 9 March 2007 Rich Farmbrough (Talk | contribs) deleted "Template:3CC" ‎ (Obsolete, deprecated and unused template.)

So if it has been deprecated, does that mean there is a replacement?

Thanks, VegKilla (talk) 08:20, 19 January 2008 (UTC)

It was repalced with {{Disambig}} as were several varieties of dab template - the cats having already gone. The discussion is here. Rich Farmbrough, 13:45 19 January 2008 (GMT).

[edit] Rollback

Hi! I have granted you rollback access - thanks for all your efforts dealing witb vandalism, and like most things in life, the reward for good work is more work! :-) --Stormie (talk) 19:57, 19 January 2008 (UTC)

Ah, I see what you mean now. No, to actually delete versions out of the history of an article, you need to be an Administrator, not merely have rollback access. And, unfortunately, there are technical reasons why it isn't practical for an Adminstrator to delete individual versions from an article with a long history (such as Mardi Gras, which has thousands of versions in its history) - basically, you need to delete the article, and then restore every version except the bad one. And as events last week showed, this can be a bad idea!
Now, there is a process for effectively zapping individual versions, it is called Oversight. However policy is that it is only done in cases of people posting personal information (such as phone numbers and home addresses), potentially libellous information, or copyright infringement. Not just for general insults and abuse. --Stormie (talk) 23:53, 19 January 2008 (UTC)
Have a read of Wikipedia:Rollback feature. To be honest there is not a huge difference between Rollback and Undo.. largely it's just that Rollback is quicker and easier. --Stormie (talk) 08:00, 20 January 2008 (UTC)
Wikipedia:Requests for oversight has the email address to contact to request the permanent removal of a version. But to be honest I'm not sure that this would meet the criteria for such drastic action. It's the sort of childish vandalism that, to be honest, happens countless times every day, and just gets reverted but not expunged from article history. --Stormie (talk) 00:52, 21 January 2008 (UTC)
Wikipedia talk:Oversight would be the place to discuss the Oversight policy. --Stormie (talk) 01:28, 21 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Amharic numbers

Hi,

Thank you for thanking me for my contributions!

Someone else has I guess clarified the issues in the discussions page you created.

I thought I was editing from my account.

I will make sure to do so next time.

[edit] Disputing "vandalisation" reversion on ASBO page

My addition to the ASBO page was not vandalism. The fact that the ASBO term, rather than being a criminal sanction, has in fact been glorified and sexually fetished, is a legitimate contribution made in good faith.

Your edit had no edit summary and you seemed to be trying to advertise a product on Wikipedia. Wikipedia is not a place for advertisements. I apologize if I was mistaken. VegKilla (talk) 23:27, 7 March 2008 (UTC)
