Vector format
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
In CAD and computer graphics, a vector format is used to represent the vector graphics on the screen.
This approach was used earlier in the 1970s when cathode ray tubes would draw line segments representing edges of a BREP. Pixel display formats gained great popularity, and vector formats were neglected.
There was a revival of vector formats when WYSIWYG became popular in the mid-1980s. Vector formats can draw lines in a pixel-based representation, but allow a user to edit lines on the screen with a mouse.
