VCR was the debut recording by VCR, originally in 2003 on Pop Faction Records as a limited-edition and regional release, created solely to sell at shows and give away to friends. The EP was enthusiastically received and helped gain the attention of SideOneDummy, leading to the EP's re-release. This version contains the only release of the track "We Are VCR" as it was not included on the re-release.
The album was re-released with a wider distribution in 2005 when VCR was picked up by SideOneDummy. This version contains the demo version of the tracks "Really Something" and "Destroy", which were recorded and released again on Power Destiny, in lei of the absence of "We Are VCR". It includes a more thorough album booklet including lyrics, as well as a different studio mix of the tracks.
