Vaziri Family
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The article concerns the Vaziri Family that has roots in Kermanshahan.
The family was one of the Persian Vizierial dynasties (succession of viziers in a family) that had power during the comings and goings of the Safavid, Afshar, Zand and Qajar dynasties. They are the descendants of Mirza Mehdi Khan Esterabadi, who was a Chief Minister under the Afsharid Dynasty. Each member of the Vaziri family was at the pre-pahlavi era a Khan of the province of Kermanshahan. During the Qajar era, they played great roles in the Constitutional Revolution of Iran.
The family adopted the surname "Vaziri" which comes from the word Vazir. It is due to the fact that most members of the family were ministers.
A square named "Vaziri square" still exists in the city of Kermanshah.
Different titles that members of the family had were Mirza, Khan, "Monshi-ol-Mamalek", "Etemaded-Dowleh, "Motazed-Daftar", "Motazed-Dowleh", "Meshkated-Dowleh".
Other families that are related to the Vaziris are the Dowlatshahis; Bavands; Mostowfis; Shahlais; Safavids.
