Vazhapadi (also Valapady and Valappadi) is a panchayat town in Salem district in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu.

As of 2001 India census[1], Valappadi had a population of 16,121. Males constitute 50% of the population and females 50%. Valappadi has an average literacy rate of 64%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 71%, and female literacy is 57%. In Vazhapadi, 12% of the population is under 6 years of age.it is famous for coconut, tomatoes.
