I put this and its sister car (Speedster) up for merging. It's the same car, after all.--85.224.87.241 10:03, 4 September 2006 (UTC)

Disagree. VX was a wholly Vauxhall development, at least until GM had the absence of mind to put Opel badges on. There was also a VXR version of the VX220, which there wasn't of the Speedster.

Vauxhall and Opel cars may essentially be the same but there are still many tiny details that distinguish them - for instance, the Opel Agila is sold with 1.0, 1.2 and 1.3 diesel engines, but it was never sold with the diesel in the UK. Take the recent Monaro supercar aswell - a design unique to Vauxhall? Yes, maybe it did stem from the Aussie Monaro, but there is no sister Opel car, much as I would've like one. All this is true; in fact, I think you will find that I put up a reciprocal referrer from Opel Speedster. If what you say is true, then certainly that article should be merged to here, and not the other way around. Still, the merging should (IMHO) take place since the VX220 is a superset of the Speedster.85.224.87.241 18:13, 17 September 2006 (UTC)

I am hearing so much about the differences, but will somebody please list them? Secondly, I believe that the "home market rule" can be applied in this case by establishing which vehicle was released earlier. Cheers, Bravada, talk - 18:52, 17 September 2006 (UTC)

As far as Google took me: there was an upgraded version of the 2.0 Turbo (the VXR220) under the Vauxhall brand. Other than that, I'll defer to someone more knowledgable. 85.224.87.241 09:17, 18 September 2006 (UTC)
Per Talk: Opel Speedster, Abarthaddict claims there are pagefuls of differences. I'm starting to get curious here. 85.224.87.241 09:26, 18 September 2006 (UTC)
The Vauxhall VX220 had a wider range than the Opel Speedster, and the car is of British origin. These two factors lead me to believe that this article should not be merged into the Opel Speedster article, but that the Opel Speedster article should be merged into this one. Respectfully, SamBlob (talk) 19:13, 15 February 2008 (UTC)

I think they should be merged :)

Please don't begin the practice of merging different makes and models into one article. It will ruin the useability of Wikipedia as a reference guide for automobiles. We need a reliably consistent approach with a separate page for each make/model combination. References, group (parent) articles, and disabiguity pages are sufficient to point out when multiple makes have similar or shared model designs. Two very similar models of the same make may share an article, so long as the basic vehicles are the same (Like Solstice and Soltice GXP, or . There are very few examples of different makes offering the same exact vehicle except for the name badge. There are always many minor diferences, trim, looks, etc. I want to see a complete set of picture for every make model combination. That would get too large for one article. How will one know where to draw the line? Would all new GM large trucks go on one page, for instance? Yet we do want to see all the pictures to be able to compare the appearances. 71.31.237.126 20:07, 17 February 2007 (UTC)
