ABC's Wide World of Sports have brought us 45 years of unforgettable moments (1961 to 2006), and Vasilily Alekseyev was the first and the greatest television weightlifting ever, in the 1970s he brought weightlifting to American television viewers thanks to Wide World of Sports, weightlifting on a regular TV basis ended with Wide World's final weightlifting event in 1996. But Vasiliy brought weightlifting true maximum power exposure, and that's also why in 1975 he was on the cover of Sports Illustrated, an american sports magazine. 14:47 June 29 Joey Chesnavich
