This article has a few problems. Firstly, there is not the slightest evidence that the Varni (Warnen) ever settled in Scandinavia. The author should stick to the historical sources which consistently place them in North and Middle Germany. Hence, more room should be given to this location rather than the unproven speculation about Värend.

Secondly, the article should mention that the Varni were part of the Thuringian kingdom, as evidenced by the later Thuringian law code. Procopius mentions two Varnian kings who's names show that they were relatives of the last Thuringian king. Thus, the two groups were likely ruled by the same dynasty. Importantly, the names Thuringian and Varnian could be used interchangibly. Thus, Hermenefrid the Thuringian king is occasionally also called king of the Varnians.
