Talk:Vanden Plas 1500/1750
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
I respectfully disagree with the deletion request. The Vanden Plas model had a different nameplate to the Allegro, was finished in a different factory and was issued a different brochure. I believe that for the purposes of official government tests (fuel economy etc) the models were considered distinct from the Allegro, but I will have to check in the brochure when I dig it out.
It is unfortunate that I had barely started this article when it was listed for deletion - the car has only a small mention in the main Allegro article, and I thought I would start a new article that I could expand over time.

I've copied your comment over to the AfD discussion page. Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Vanden_Plas_1500/1750, just to let you know. Ged UK (talk) 14:02, 7 June 2008 (UTC)
Thanks for copying that over. I can't figure out how to enter that discussion - only just started editing on Wiki.
As you can see I have been fleshing out my article. I have been careful to document my claims with references. If I am allowed to I will put up some scans from the Vanden Plas brochure (I am not sure who the copyright lies with given the tortured history of BL/Austin Rover/Rover Group/MG Rover's ownership. Since BL was a nationalised company at the time of the publication of the Vanden Plas brochure, could it be considered legitimately in the public domain now?)

- Hi Rfreedman. Thanks for all the work you're doing to document these cars. I won't get into my opinions about the article existing or being part of the Allegro one, since that's being handled on the deletion discussion page, but I wanted to answer your question about the brochure. In short, please don't put up any scans from the brochure. So far as I understand it, they are copyrighted, and that copyright now belongs to Ford, who ended up inheriting the Vanden Plas name. – Kieran T (talk) 23:27, 8 June 2008 (UTC)
