Vаmbel was a small village on the northwest part of Greece (former Aegean Macedonia) near Greek-Albanian border, about 50 kilometars west from city of Kostur. It was heavily destroyed in the Greek civil war (1946-1949). Its population in the beginning of the 20th century was about 706 citizens and 113 houses with Macedonian settlements. After the war most of its citizens took refuge in the Republic of Macedonia and Slavic-speaking countries (Russia, Poland, Czechoslovakia, Yugoslavia)
